Anjali Patel was a behavioural economist whose research on cross-cultural judgment and decision-making opened new avenues for understanding how cultural context shapes risk assessment and choice. She joined the Institute in 2000 after postdoctoral work at the University of Toronto and quickly became known for her innovative experimental designs that tested decision-making across diverse populations. During her six years at the Institute, she published widely on cultural variation in loss aversion and framing effects. In 2006, she accepted a faculty position at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, where she founded the Centre for Decision Science and continues to mentor researchers in Asia-Pacific regions.
