Amara completed her doctorate at Cornell studying how emotional arousal selectively distorts the encoding and consolidation of episodic memories — not just what is remembered, but how the feeling of a memory changes over time. She is now a postdoctoral fellow in Pierre Beauchamp's lab, extending that work to ask how affective memories shape future decisions about trust and cooperation. She joined the Institute in 2023.
