Patricia Morrison received her PhD from the University of Toronto in cognitive neuroscience, specializing in the role of sleep in memory consolidation. As Senior Fellow at the Institute, she conducted pioneering work on how sleep-dependent neural replay strengthens long-term memories, publishing three high-impact papers that shaped the field's understanding of overnight memory processing. She supervised twelve graduate students and was instrumental in establishing the Institute's sleep laboratory. Morrison left in 2013 to lead the Sleep & Cognition lab at McMaster University, where she continues her research as a tenured associate professor.
