Erik Larsson was a Swedish psycholinguist renowned for his elegant studies of syntactic processing in multilingual speakers. He joined the Institute in 1999 from the University of Lund and established a laboratory dedicated to understanding how the bilingual brain manages competing grammatical systems. His work bridged European and North American traditions in experimental psycholinguistics and attracted visiting scholars from across the Nordic region. Over nearly a decade at the Institute, Larsson mentored numerous graduate students and co-founded the Institute's annual International Bilingualism Conference. In 2008, he returned to Sweden to take a distinguished professorship at Uppsala University, where he remains active in research and administration.
